Bi-Directional Circuits – examples and information

In IMS, Bi-Directional circuits don’t consider the port’s Tx/Rx information, and therefore a port represents both the transmit and receive directions.

In the above diagram both ports shown are modelled as Bi-Directional.

Some points to remember:

A Bi-Directional circuit can only be related to Bi-Directional ports

A Bi-Directional port can be changed to a UNI directional port, provided there is no circuit related to it, regardless of its Port Template being set to BI

IMS considers a port as Bi-Directional if the TxRx property is not set

If the TxRx property is set to either Tx or Rx, then IMS considers the port to be UNI directional port

When a Bi-Directional circuit is related to a Bi-Directional carrier circuit, the Direction property of the CircuitRelation entity is set to 0 (BiDirectional).
