Create a Sub Range

 

Once an Ip Range has been created, it can then be divided into sub ranges if so wished.

In the following examples we assume that the IP Range of 10.0.0.0 with a prefix (CIDR) of 24 has already been setup as indicated in the previous screen shot.

From the IpRangeForm Actions button bar …

 

Click on the Create sub Range drop down button

From the list of prefixes (masks) make a further selection i.e., in this example a prefix of 28 will be chosen - from a possible /25 to /32 – this will then reveal two further options for selection mentioned below

You now have the option to:

 

Select range

 

or

Individual sub ranges can now be set up under the /28 prefix. The /28 prefix allows for up to 16 sub ranges.

Should further sub ranges be required from this /28 prefix, then repeat these steps and choose another remaining sub range.

Create all free ranges

Create all IP sub ranges in one go – in this case all 16 sub ranges would be set up.

Once the parent IP Range has a sub range, then you will notice that all the original IP Numbers listed under the parent IP Range tab are now gone, and collapsed under their respective sub ranges, the IP Address tab is replaced by a Sub Ranges tab accordingly

To see and access the individual IP Numbers in the new sub range created …

 

Click on the IP sub range created, located in the Name column of the Sub Ranges tab – this opens the Details tab as well as the Ip Addesses tab for that sub range
