Reconcile options
The following reconcile options are available for equipment:
-Inclusive shelves:
Reconcile the node including the related shelf;
-Inclusive cards:
Reconcile the node including the related cards;
-Inclusive extra fields:
Reconcile the node including the related extra fields;
-Selected node:
Only reconcile the node that is selected in the grid;
-All nodes:
Reconcile all the nodes
-Add:
oSelected node
This will add the node to IMS that does not exist yet in IMS.
oAll nodes
This will search for all the reconcile nodes that has no relation to IMS.
Then it will try to add that list of reconcile nodes to IMS.
-Update:
oSelected node
This will update the node that already exists in IMS.
oAll nodes
This will search for all the reconcile nodes that are related to a IMS node and has deltas
-Delete:
This will delete all the nodes in IMS related to the selected network platform that do not exist
in the reconcile NMS anymore.
Delete also planned
Planned objects will be removed if this option is selected.
(Very Dangerous! Not advised to be used in normal operation as it is meant as a realignment option and will remove any and all
not found in NMS.)
Delete To OOS only
With this option objects will not be removed, but changed to status OOS.
Removes nmsid’s from, and sets Out Of Service, circuits/equipment that previously existed but are not anymore found in the interface.
It does not delete them.
(Advised option for standard removal as it will keep the reference in IMS for archival purposes with their references to all related
history records)
It's important to check that the loading process was successfully performed, as this fills/refreshes the reconcile_circuit table.
The data in this table must be complete and current.
Delete also related circuits on Port
Removes cct's from the ports when the delete incl cards option is used, this option ensures that the ports are disconnected so the card
can be removed.
Delete RFC only
Will only remove objects that are set to RFC in IMS.
Delete all circuits only
Will only delete related circuits to a node, when the node is reconciled and no longer found.
Delete all cards only
Will delete only related cards to a node, when the node is reconciled and no longer found.
Delete all shelves only
Will only delete related shelves to a node, when the node is reconciled and no longer found.
-Status:
The status selected will be set to the reconciled nodes.
If no status is selected, the default status will be ‘PL’ (Planned).
-Equipment definition:
This will only reconcile all the nodes that are related to the selected equipment definition.
Grid columns
Each grid is divided into three parts:
Reconcile
These are all the records related to the network data.
IMS
These are the records of the IMS objects.
If there is a match with the network data, the records row in “reconcile” part matches with the “IMS” part.
Error
When a discrepancy is found or an error occurred during reconcile process, an error message will become
visible.
The “error message” column will give a description of what went wrong during the reconcile process.
The “delta type” and “delta text” columns are showing information if there are any differences between
the reconcile (network) and the IMS object. For example, the serial has changed from a node.
Then the delta type is “SERIALNUMBER” and the delta text will be
“Serial number in IMS: ‘ABCD’ <> NMS: ‘EFGH’”
Upper Tab pages
Nodes
Node in IMS not in NMS
This means that there are nodes existing in IMS (belonging to the selected network), but these nodes
are not found in the reconcile node table.
Possible causes:
-IMS nodes are created manually in IMS, but not yet in the actual network.
-The node has been deleted from the network.
Possible solutions:
-Check who has created the node in IMS and ask the person why he has created it and why the
equipment is in service in IMS while not in the network.
-If the equipment has been created via reconciliation, check in the network if the node still exists.
If the node still exists, but is not available in the reconcile form, VC4 helpdesk should be informed.
Node in NMS not in IMS
This means that the nodes have been found in the network but are not present in IMS.
Possible causes:
-One of the related objects does not exist in IMS like Site, Domain, IP-address, Node type
oSolution:
Created missing objects in IMS
-The node already exists in IMS but has a different Network ID.
oSolution:
Delete the old Network ID and relate the reconcile node to the IMS node.
-Reconciliation process did not run yet: Reconcile the nodes.
All reconcile nodes
This tab page lists all the nodes that exist in the reconcile table related to the selected network platform.
All nodes in IMS
These are all the nodes in IMS related to the selected network platform.
Card delta
This tab page lists all the nodes that exist in IMS and has related cards.
One or more of these reconciled cards have discrepancies.
Possible causes:
-Any property on the reconcile card object could be different from the related card in IMS,
this will be explained in the “Delta text” column.
Possible solution:
-Check the card in the node in IMS, check with persons who responsible for the NMS to see if the
information is correct.
oIf this is correct, the card can be reconciled.
oIf the information is not correct, VC4 helpdesk should be informed.
Node on Site Unknown or Unkn
This tab page lists the nodes that are set to location “UNKNOWN” or “UNKN”
The reconcile set the nodes to these locations if it cannot find a node location using network data or
naming convention.
Solutions:
-If it should discover the location, check with network team why the location cannot be discovered.
oLocation name could be set wrong in network
oLocation name does not exist in IMS. Create this location.
-If the location/site is not set in network data or in node name, set the location manually in the node
form (per node).
Equipment definition unknown in IMS.
The nodes listed have a node type that do not exist in IMS.
Solution: Create the new node type in IMS and reconcile the related node again.
Shelves
All shelves in IMS
This tab page lists all the shelves in IMS related to the selected network platform.
Shelf in NMS not in IMS
This lists all the shelves found in the network but do not exist in IMS.
Possible causes:
-One of the related objects does not exist in IMS like Site, Domain, IP-address, Shelf definition etc.
Check the error message column.
-Reconcile not fully completed.
Solution:
-Create the missing related objects in IMS
-Reconcile node or shelf
Shelf in IMS not in NMS
This tab page lists all the shelves existing in IMS of the selected network platform, but are not found in
the reconcile shelf table.
Possible causes:
-IMS shelves are created manually in IMS.
-The shelf has been deleted from the network.
Possible solutions:
-Check who has created the shelf in IMS and ask the person why he has created it and why it is
in service while not in the network.
-If the equipment has been created via reconciliation, check the network if the shelf still exists.
If the shelf still exists, but is not available in the reconcile form, VC4 helpdesk should be informed.
Shelf on location Unknown
This tab lists all the shelves that are set to location “UNKNOWN” or “UNKN”
The reconcile set the shelves to these unknown locations if IMS cannot discover the correct location
of the shelf using the network data.
Possible causes:
-The NE name has no correct location
-The NE name has no correct name
-The location is not existing in IMS locations table
Solution:
-Check the NE location name and check if this location exist in IMS, check the spelling of the name
-Check if the name of the NE, does it contain the correct location name
-Check with network team if the shelf name is in network (reconcile) data
Shelf definition unknown in IMS
The node names in this list have a shelf type that does not exist in IMS.
Solution: Create the shelf type in IMS and reconcile the related shelf again.
Cards
Card definition in NMS not in IMS
This tab page list of all the card definitions coming from the network that does not exist in IMS.
Solution:
Create the card types in IMS.
Cards in NMS not in IMS
The cards listed have been found in the network but do not exist in IMS.
Possible causes:
-One of the related objects does not exist in IMS like Node, Shelf, Card definition, Slot definition etc.
Check the error message column for more details.
-Reconcile process did not run completely
Solution:
-Create missing objects in IMS
-Reconcile again
Cards in IMS not in NMS
The cards listed, exist in IMS in the selected network, but are not found in the network data.
Possible causes:
-IMS cards are created manually in IMS
-The card has been deleted from the management system
Possible solutions:
-Check who has created the card in IMS and ask the person why he has created it.
-If the equipment has been created via reconciliation, check with the management system if the
card still exists. If the card still exists in the NMS but is not available in the reconcile form,
VC4 should be informed.
All cards in IMS
This tab page lists all the cards discovered from the network.
Slot not modelled
The cards listed are related to a slot that does not exist in related node type in IMS.
Solution:
-Check with the team of the related management system if the slot actually exists.
oIf true, create the new slot in the node type in IMS.
oIf false, ask VC4 helpdesk why this record is populated in reconcile tables.
Lower tab pages (details of selected record)
When a record is selected in the upper part of the reconcile, details become visible in the lower part of
the reconcile form.
If no details appear automatically, try to click on button “Show details of selected record” in the button bar.
Note: the lower tabpage(s) will only appear if the related information has been found in the database.
These are the possible tab pages:
Reconcile card
This lists all the network card objects of the selected equipment. The following checks can be done:
-The network card versus IMS cards
-If there are card in network, that are not in IMS or vice versa.
-Which network card has discrepancies with IMS data, could not be created or updated for some
kind of reason. Check the error message column.
-Which cards did not have any issue in the reconciliation process.
Shelves
This is a list of all the reconcile shelf objects related to the selected reconcile object. From here you are
able to check:
-If there are shelves related to any IMS shelf.
-Which shelf maybe has deltas with IMS, could not be created or updated for some kind of reason.
Check the error message column.
-Which shelf has not any problem during the reconciliation.
IMS Node
If the selected reconcile object has a relation with an IMS Node, then this tab page will appear with a
graphical view of the node in IMS. From here the layout of the Node can be checked, remove or insert cards,
change status of cards, etc. All the right mouse menus will be the same as the right mouse menus on the slots
and cards in the node form.
Node extra fields
If the selected record has a relation with some reconcile node extra fields then this tab page will display a
list of all the related reconcile node extra fields. From here the following things can be checked:
-If there are extra fields related to any IMS extra field for the nodes.
-Which extra fields has discrepancies with IMS, could not be created or updated for some kind of
reason. Check the error message column.
-Which extra fields were reconciled correctly.
Shelf extra fields
If the selected record has a relation with some reconcile shelf extra fields then this tab page will display a
list of all the related reconcile shelf extra fields. From here the following things can be checked:
-If there are extra fields related to any IMS extra field for the nodes.
-Which card maybe has deltas with IMS, could not be created or updated for some kind of reason.
Check the error message column.
-Which extra fields has not any problem during the reconciliation.
Related circuits
If the selected object has any relation with one or more reconcile circuits then this tab page lists all the
related reconcile circuits. From here circuits can be checked:
-that maybe have a discrepancy with IMS
-could not be created or updated for some kind of reason
that have not any problem during the reconciliation.
