The Extrafields Group feature provides IMS users with the flexibility to enhance their network object models by

allowing new tab pages and data fields to be added. As IMS is an off the shelf product, it would be impossible

to take into consideration every piece of network information imaginable.

 

For this purpose, this feature allows each network provider to model their particular ‘extra’ fields of information

they require, which then become supplemental to IMS’ standard fields but note that an Extra Field can only be

placed on an Extra Field Group tab page, not in existing standard IMS forms.

 

The Extrafields are grouped and assigned to IMS network objects as additional tabs of information. Such

network objects could be specific node types, for example BTS Cells, Circuits of a particular bandwidth, and

even Order Tasks.

 

Some terminology useful to know then is:

 

Extra Field Groups are the tab pages

Extra Fields are the user defined supplemental fields in the tab pages
