Order / TT

When we talk about a workflow in IMS we typically refer to the IMS object called Order/TT. The Order part refers to a work order whilst the TT part stands for Trouble Ticket, and so when creating a new instance of Order/TT, the option to choose either one is given.

This section primarily deals with the work order aspect of Order/TT.

Some examples of work orders that could be created for are:

Service Delivery - Create customer and/or platform services

Fault Handling - Solve network problems

Capacity Management - create new network capacity and network migrations

Planned Work - Scheduled Network maintenance

BID management

Several IMS components come into play in the building of a work order so it is important to become familiar with some of the related terms which arise as we proceed through this document.

Order Type

The name of the Order Type gives an overall understanding of the Order’s function i.e., New Equipment, Fiber Test, VLAN Provisioning.

Queue

The work queue is where allocated tasks are checked in and out by assigned authorised users. These typically relate to departments within an organisation i.e., customer service, equipment deployment, accounts, implementation team, circuit design, etc.

Task

The sets of instructiuons that make up an order from start to finish i.e., Create TT for customer, Track customer fault, Fiber Feasibility Check, etc.
